Work

Here you can find a selection of projects I’ve worked on during my time at work. I am unable to disclose information about current projects since these remain under embargo.

On-going new model Accessory Projects

As a Senior Project Engineer I lead a team of 6 and am accountable for the Design and Development activities required to deliver the accessory specification for 4 new motorcycle platforms across a wide range of model families. The first of these models is due to launch in October 2020, with the remainder following in subsequent years.

In additional to pastoral responsibilities of my team, I also provide a strong technical lead to each Engineer; giving clear guidance, direction and support as required. Within this role I am responsible for the review and approval of technical drawings, reports and calculations, Design Change notices, GA Scheme drawings, kit BOM releases, customer and dealer fitting instructions. I chair regular design reviews and initiate wider reviews with company specialists.

I have a proven track record of delivering products on time, within budget and to the required quality standard. I do this by asking the right questions at the right time to ensure a smooth delivery of product, and by deploying my drive and enthusiasm to relentlessly progress work, without compromising quality of output.

Triumph Design Awards

The Triumph Design Awards competition for UK students of D&T was my own idea, generated as a direct result of my passion for promoting Design and Engineering to young engineers. I came up with the concept, pitched it to company directors, recruited a team of volunteers and ran the competition for 4 successful successive years.

The Triumph Design Awards attracts entries from UK students nationally, who are invited to present their work to Senior Engineers at Triumph Motorcycles with the chance to win paid internships and university sponsorship.

What can I say?! Saturday was a spectacular success. All your vision & hard work (& not a little courage as well!) paid off & you made me one helluva proud Chairman of Triumph. Thank you & congratulations. – Lord Digby Jones, Chairman – Triumph Motorcycles Ltd.

Bonneville Bobber, Bobber Black & Speedmaster

Reporting to the Senior Design Team Leader, I led the Design and Development of over 100 accessory kits for the Bonneville Bobber in my role as Project Lead, whilst also maintaining design responsibility for key accessory products. This involved detailed development planning, including resource planning and allocation, supporting the creation of budgets, validation test planning, management and final verification approval.

Thruxton R & Bonneville T100/T120

Senior Design Engineer responsible for the Design & Development of a number of key accessory kits for the updated Bonneville T120/T100 & Thruxton platform. Including motorcycle luggage, injection moulded components and structural fabrications.
